An apartment complex without a community pool has a negative impact on the value, especially for resale. Detached houses, as well as townhouses, usually have their own pool.
It is of course a cost factor, since the water and the pool must be maintained, even in your absence. Depending on the size you have to calculate with about 100 €/month. Maintenance costs plus electricity.
The pool in Cyprus is usually made of in-situ concrete. The inner skin can be covered with foil or tiles. Both have their justification:
The foil variant is somewhat cheaper, easy to maintain, feels good, is padded and can be replaced without problems after approx. 10-15 years.
The tile variant leaves nothing to be desired in terms of design. Most often mosaic glass tiles are used. These are very resistant and absolutely color-fast. Individual mosaic tiles can also be replaced under water.
It is, as so often, a matter of taste.
Piping is standardized, is carried out neatly. Sand filters are used almost exclusively. Automatic dosing systems (costs from approx. 1,500 €) for chlorine and pH value, one finds still rarely, since the basin must be cleaned in the absence nevertheless.
Depending on the amount of water, a correspondingly powerful pump must be used. Usual values are between 0.75 and 1.5 kW. Usage, environment and temperature determine the running time. In summer, approx. 8 hrs. running time must be assumed.
Skimmer pool
The skimmer can be installed in the pool wall up to 6cm below the pool edge. Through the skimmer the surface dirt is sucked off, coarse parts such as leaves, are retained in a catch basket.
Inexpensive and easy to maintain.
Infinity Pool
In this variant, one edge of the pool is lowered, the overflowing water is collected in a second pool and from there it enters the filter system. With an appropriate position, the swimmer has the feeling that the water surface merges into the horizon.
Disadvantage: Because the water level is always the same, a lime rim tends to form at the water line.
Overflow Pool
Also called overflow pool. An overflow channel must be installed around the entire pool. The water first enters a surge pool and is then fed to the filtration system. It is recommended for irregular pool shapes. However, 20% - 30% additional costs must be calculated.
Keeping the overflow channel clean and its cover is also costly.
Typical lime deposits at the waterline, in an Infinite pool.
The lime and the chlorine in the water combine to form an unpleasant deposit on the edge of the pool which, as far as I know, can only be removed mechanically.
