Traditional Mediterranean cuisine

In Cyprus you will encounter traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Fresh vegetables, often home-grown. Here, tomato still tastes like tomato. There is a wonderful smell of fresh herbs. The quality of the meat is excellent. The specialities include kleftiko (lamb cooked for several hours in a stone oven), stifado (similar to our goulash, various types of meat can be used) and souvla (grilled meat). The various dips and the fresh salad (usually with feta cheese) round off every meal. Fish lovers also get their money's worth in Cyprus. Always ask for the "Catch of the Day".

Traditional tavernas can be found all over the island. If you have the opportunity, visit a taverna away from the tourist areas.

Tastes of all kinds are really catered for. Whether French, Italian, Mexican, Asian, Indian.... You are sure to find what you are looking for.

Hotel restaurants

In Cyprus, it is also common for non-hotel guests to eat in the hotels. If you like breakfast, there is hardly anything better than helping yourself to the generous buffets.
