Shopping in Cyprus

There is little that is not available! Whether well-known supermarket chains or specialist shops - basically you can find all the food you need to spoil yourself and your family with culinary delights.

As in Germany, you should take the opportunity to buy fruit and vegetables from the farmer. You can buy very good quality meat.

Also sausage and cheese. If you buy regionally, you usually buy cheaper.

Bread and baked goods, but especially cakes, are cheaper than in Germany.

Dairy products, however, are much more expensive.

Fashion is not a foreign word here either. In our shopping malls you will find clothing shops that you are certainly also familiar with from Germany. Shoe shops abound here, but they are not always the quality we expect. Unfortunately, you won't find high-quality leather shoes everywhere. Well-known fashion labels such as Escada, Gucci, Armani, Boss, Prada are represented on the island. 

The latest sports shoes and sportswear can sometimes be bought for less.

Beware of imitations! In the tourist-only shops, mainly in the old town and at the harbour, there are always counterfeit items, such as handbags and scarves.

Far away from the tourist centres, you will find small shops offering high-quality olive oils, spices, creams and soaps, among other things.

I find this more appropriate as a souvenir than small Adonis figurines "Made in China". If you have the opportunity to drive inland, I recommend a detour to Agros. Here you will find the largest rose cultivation. An oil is produced from the rose petals and this in turn is used for the production of soaps, candles and creams.  Not only the candles, in the shape of rose petals, are a popular souvenir. The owner of the company will gladly show you around and tell you everything about the utilisation of the rose petals.
