As an ambitious golfer, I have to report more naturally about golf in Cyprus. In the last three decades, during which I spent many years as a single mobile phone capper, I played many courses. On Mallorca I played almost all the golf courses. Also along the Algarve and around the Spanish coast. I experienced special courses in Florida/ Orlando and South Carolina/ Hilton Head Island.
Please forgive me for not using the often exuberant vocabulary from the brochures or internet of the respective operators when describing the courses.
The assessment of the golf courses in Cyprus is my personal view, which I will adjust from time to time.
There are five golf courses in Cyprus. Four in the Greek part and one in the Turkish part of Northern Cyprus, which I am not describing at the moment as I have not played it yet. In addition, there is Mario's driving range between Paphos and Peyia.
The courses from the Greek part of Cyprus are all in the Paphos region. Three of them are within a few minutes drive of each other (Aphrodite Hill, Secret Valley and Elea). Minthis Hills is in the Tsada region and is about 20 minutes by car from Pafos centre.
Each course has its advantages and disadvantages. The clubhouses are all attractively furnished, some of them luxuriously. One special feature should be mentioned: hot food is usually only available until around 5 pm. With a few exceptions during the year, the club restaurant closes around 7 pm.
