Cyprus regions

Republik Nordzypern

On 20 July 1974, the north of the island was occupied by Turkey. In 1983, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was proclaimed, but this was never recognised by the United Nations (UN).

Since then, the UN has been watching over a border corridor to ensure peaceful coexistence.

In recent years, intensive efforts have been made to achieve unification.

Republik Zypern

The Republic was founded in 1960 after being released from the UK as a former colony. Cyprus joined the EU in 2004 and introduced the euro in 2008.

Approx. 1.2 million people live on the island, of which approx. 850,000 live in the so-called Greek part.

We are always 1 hour ahead of Germany.

More than 50 thousand people now live in the region. Its origins date back to the Stone Age. Many monuments and excavations bear witness to a varied history.

The hotel industry ranges from simple accommodation to 5-star hotels with an excellent reputation. The new shopping mall can easily be compared to German shopping centres.
